Cold Spring Granite Redevelopment Framework

Coldspring Granite Company has been a cornerstone of the regional economy and the community of Cold Spring since 1904. Its relocation from its historical location along the Sauk River to a more expansive campus west of downtown will open 30 acres for redevelopment. This move will create unique opportunities to vastly change the city’s downtown and redefine its relationship with the Sauk River.

Riverfront Redevelopment and Access

The Framework Plan envisions a diverse, mixed use downtown that supports a variety of activities along a dynamic waterfront. Select buildings of the former granite plant will be integrated into a riverfront promenade and the fabric of the city with a circulation network linking a hierarchy of open spaces and streets, current business districts, and new development areas.
This landmark destination will double the size of the current downtown and provide valuable places for people to live, work, shop, and play in a setting that enhances the environment and celebrates its rich history.
